The WS T. Bailey Global Thematic Equity Fund invests in a carefully selected range of regional and global equity funds, each focused on powerful trends that are shaping the world. It is designed for investors desiring global equity exposure with a longer-term investment horizon. Alongside regional exposures, it targets areas such as technology innovation, healthcare advances, ageing population dynamics, and the growth of emerging economies. By blending different themes with specialist active managers, it aims to offer diversified access to companies worldwide that are benefitting from robust structural trends.
The Fund adopts a high-conviction, actively managed multi-manager approach, allocating capital across global equities to capture a diverse range of investment themes. The strategy is designed to identify and exploit both powerful long-term structural trends shaping the world alongside shorter-term cyclical opportunities, recognising that return drivers evolve across market environments. At T. Bailey Asset Management, thematic investing is viewed as a dynamic and continuously evolving process, rather than a static allocation to long-term growth trends. The objective is to identify themes with the potential to generate attractive risk-adjusted returns over varying time horizons.
Themes are identified through a global opportunity set and may encompass both secular growth drivers—such as resource efficiency or demographic change—and more cyclical dislocations, including sectoral, regional or macro-driven opportunities.
Each theme is validated and subsequently monitored through a rigorous evaluation framework, incorporating factors such as capital lifecycle stage, valuation metrics, pricing power, return characteristics, balance sheet strength, income profile, and sensitivity to macroeconomic and geopolitical conditions. This ensures that thematic exposures are grounded in robust fundamental analysis.
Following theme validation, capital is allocated to specialist third-party managers with demonstrable expertise, consistent alpha generation, and disciplined risk management within their respective domains.
The portfolio is actively managed, with ongoing monitoring of both thematic exposures and underlying managers. Allocations are dynamically adjusted to reflect changes in conviction, market conditions, and the evolving opportunity set.
By combining secular and cyclical themes, the Fund seeks to construct a diversified portfolio with multiple return drivers. This approach aims to enhance risk-adjusted returns while mitigating reliance on any single economic regime or investment style.
